Video Transcript for Review of Curt Hitch Pins and Clips - Standard Hitch Pin - C21510

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this Curt class three, class four and class five hitch pin and clip, that fits two inch and two and a half inch hitch receivers. This hitch pin is what will secure your hitch mounted accessory in your trailer hitch receiver. The pin itself has a nice heat treated steel. It's very strong and durable, has a nice sink finish on it to resist corrosion, and if you notice on the clip and on the pin, it does have plastic grips on the ends right here, and those plastic grips make it easy to install and remove.

Same way on the clip, push it in and pull it out to remove it.A few specs on this. Again, it is designed to fit two inch by two inch and two and a half inch by two and a half inch trailer hitch receivers. The pin diameter is five eighths of an inch. Overall length, if we measure from this end to this end, on the pin itself is going to be right at five and one quarter inches. And the usable length would be once we install the clip and that's from inside the clip to the spot right there where it starts to bend is going to be right at three and one eighths inches for usable length, but that should do it for the review on this Curt class three, class four and class five hitch pin and clip for the two inch and two and a half inch hitch receivers..

You guys think of everything although these items were not needed as I had locking pins available for hooking up the tow system. Might want to ask customer before adding items.

Comments
They should have asked whether you needed that pin or not. I am sorry that this step was missed. We can always set up a return label for you to return it. Let me get you over to customer service and they can discuss with you the best option.

The low profile was the best choice, especially on the Sienna. It was a bit of work since I had to remove the bumper cover and the zillion plastic clips and screws but definitely worth the extra work.

I was so excited with the ordering and videos showing details as well as the fast delivery from your firm. However, as of 5:00 today, I did not receive the hitch receiver (main part) and got an email satiating that it will be here on Friday. This puts me in an extremely disadvantage for my move because my installation appointment is on Friday and I make my move this Sunday. Now I am not sure what even to do at this point as the very main part won't be here until the day of my installation!!!!

I use this Curt hitch pin and clip when I'm using the receiver plug-even though I COULD use it with my hitch. Being an expensive hitch, I like RH5-XL when it's on my truck. The Curt is better than plain hitch pins because of the rubber on both the pin and the clip, which gives a better grip when it's cold or wet. Etrailer, as usual, got it to me fast, and the price was right. Also, I like that the clip goes through the pin instead of into a slot, making it somewhat harder for the clip to fall out or spread the legs of the clip over time-at least I think so.

Comments
Still working like a champ. No rust, a little wear on the pin, but it still works like day 1.

They are holding up well after 1 year. Seriously what can I say about a pin and clip? They have not broken, they fit, and they do they job I want them to do.

by:

Although we haven't put the piece on, there are a few reasons why I'm very pleased with the service provided. From the video tutorial, amazing and helpful! The fact that you mentioned the name of the parts needed and included the item# (which was helpful when it came to looking for the piece. Your website is very user-friendly. The arrival of our package was very-well wrapped and I will post my review (or add to my review), once we unbox and put the piece on, which again, the video is helpful again! Thank you very much!

by:

This was the perfect length for my use. The only other thing I would consider is an anti-rattle pin but I don't haul enough to make it worth the hassle.

by:

It does the job - I've had no problems with it. I had it installed along with the hitch at my local garage.

by:

Great price … easy install…. Great quality product…..have bicycle platform rack installed on it.. also have Curt 4 way wiring harness and lighting… also excellent

by:

We're thoroughly pleased with both Paula and our order (a tow hitch cover). The cover looks exactly the way it looks on the website!

by:

Fit was perfect as advertised, great pr oduct.

by:

This ball fit perfectly on the hitch. The camper hooks up to it very easily.

by:

fits well. does what it supposed to do

Be nice if it actually worked on 2 1/2” hitches the pin is a 1/4 short on my gmc to put safety pin in

There are hitch pins that will have a longer usuable length like part # 337HP6256WC

I purchased a trailer hitch, ball mount, pin, and wiring set for my 2006 Toyota Tacoma. They were delivered promptly and in good order. With the help of the online videos, as well as the informative written directions, I completed the installation of all items in less than an afternoon and everything fit and operated as advertised. I am very pleased with the products and the excellent service. Needless to say, I highly recommend etrailer.com.

The hitch and pin, along with the turn signals and brake lights continue to work consistently and dependably without any problems at all. Thanks again for the excellent products and service.

Works well.

by:

Thank you for such prompt service. I put this on my Polaris 570 mid size Ranger. The problem was a normal hitch was under the bed and a 2 inch rise was a bit too low for a level trailer. This fixed the problem moving the ball out further and higher. Much easier to hook up. I would recommend your company to others.

by:

Very nicely made with a protective coating on th handle portion

by:

Perfect fit for the 2022 Honda CRV. Installation was straight forward with the included instructions and watching the installation video also helped. Overall, it took about an hour and a half to install.

by:

Ordered this with a trailer hitch. It is a solid product and I'm very happy with it.

Comments
still a solid product.

by:

Easy installation. Great for hauling bikes etc. Cosmetically hitch looks great with no rust

by:

Good quality pin and clip set for an affordable price.

by:

Good for normal trailer hook up and towing, but when trailer hitch is not used and a trailer hitch insert is used a key locking clip and pin should be used to avoid any one stealing the insert you have inserted to replace the actual towing bracket. People have told me they had to learn the hard way on getting their College emblem stolen because they used the normal pin.

Comments
If you need a locking pin I recommend part # 7683. Please keep in mind this lock will not work with double-walled hitches or some factory 2 inch trailer hitches that have an outside width wider than 2 5/8. If a longer pin length is needed, see hitch lock part # RH5-XL.

  • Recommended Pin And Clip To Replace Lost Pin On Curt Folding Cargo Carrier For 2 Inch Receivers
It sounds like the pin that allows the cargo carrier to be tilted up or down is what you are missing. I have attached a photo of the pin on a cargo carrier. If that is the pin and clip that is missing I recommend using part # C21510 as a replacement. This pin is designed for 2 inch and 2-1/2 inch trailer hitches and my contact at Curt said the pin would work well for you.

  • What is the Weight Rating of the Curt Pin and Clip # C21510
Hitch pins are not given weight ratings because they are built with such extreme weight bearing capabilities that the trailer hitch, ball mount or trailer coupler is more likely to fail than the hitch pin. Most Class IV trailer hitches have a maximum towing capacity of 12,000 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 1,000 lbs. Before you tow your horse trailer, you will also want to verify the towing capacity of your tow vehicle. There are instances where a Class IV hitch is available for...

We offer universal fit hitches that fit many different vehicles. To add a class IV or V hitch to your 2013 Chevy express 4500 Cutaway from the hitches we carry, would require the hitch to be welded in place. I recommend the Curt Class V Universal Weld-on Receiver Hitch Item # 15903. This hitch fits frame rail spacing from 18" apart up to 61" apart, has a 1500lb max tongue weight with a 15000lb gross towing capacity, a 2" x 2" receiver tube opening with a 5/8" hitch pin hole. The Curt High-Low Adapter # C59KR should work for giving you ground clearance for your cargo carrier. Refer to the diagram attached below and measure your hitch setup to make sure. Note this adapter does not come with a hitch pin and clip. If you need one, I recommend the Curt # C21510. While there is not a replacement sleeve adapter for the rack, there is a way to still use it in your 2 inch hitch so you don't have to get a new bike rack. What you can do is use a 2" to 1-1/4" adapter, and it will also need a pin and clip to secure the adapter to your hitch: - Hitch Adapter 2" to 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver # 80300 - Pin and Clip # C21510
