Question:
I use this vehicle to pull a heavy trailer on back roads on the farm. I want 5000 lb air bag, not 2000. I measured between tire and outside of frame and have 6.25 in. Does this one fit on spring or on axle. Will it work or which other one do I need? I needed this yesterday, but am not sure it fits.

The Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs will fit on your 1990 GMC K1500 truck, but to determine which kit will work for you, we will need to know the distance from the bottom of your frame rail to the top of the jounce bumper strike plate on the axle (see photo).
The LoadLifter springs mount between the frame rail and the axle. If the distance from the bottom of the frame rail to the top of the jounce bumper strike plate is less than or equal to 7.25 inches, then you will want kit, # AL57128. If that distance is greater than 7.25 inches, then you will want kit # AL57216.
I have attached the installation instructions for both of these kits for you to check out.
