7-Way OEM Replacement Trailer Wiring Harness for a 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Published 06/13/2013 >
Question:
Hi, We have a 1999 F250 Super Duty 7.3L. I want to replace the 4 way with the 7 way. I was about to order C552243 along with the mounting kit plate and hardware. But I dont know if I should get this or item 118243. They appear to be similar. I like $10 cheaper as long as it is what I need. What do you recommend? Thanks for your help.

Helpful Expert Reply:
You can use the Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness, # C55243, or the Tow Ready Replacement 7-Way Harness, # 118243, on your 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty. These are basically the same item for your truck made by different manufacturers.
If the price point of the Curt harness is more appealing to you, then there is no reason why you cannot use that harness.
There is one thing you will want to keep in mind when installing either of these harnesses, do not forget to install the relays and fuses. The included relays and fuses will activate the electric brake output and 12 volt power to give you a fully functioning 7-way connector.
I have attached an installation video on a 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty for you to check out.
