We have six different hitches compatible with your 2006 Dodge Durango, including the Curt # 13297 that you referenced. All of the hitches available for your vehicle do extend out a bit past the bumper/fascia.
The diagram shows the Draw-Tite placement in relation to your bumper/fascia, however, all of the hitches will be extremely similar in placement. The picture is of the Draw-Tite # 75162 which does give you a length - this picture is taken on the back of a 2009 Chrysler Aspen, so your Durango may be a little bit longer, however, this can give you a rough idea.
I spoke with both companies, Curt and Draw-Tite, and they both claimed that the receiver will extend out approximately 2-1/2 inches to 3 inches past the bumper/fascia on your Durango.
