I have a garage application where I need to lift and lower 400 lbs vertically about 6foot through a pulley attached to the ceiling, I am considering something like DL74FRand DL10970 What are the pros and cons of each?

The main benefit of a worm gear winch like the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch part # DL10970 over a brake winch like the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch part # DL74FR is that worm gear winches don't have a minimum load requirement. If you're consistently over the minimum load requirement then I recommend using a brake hand winch as it will be faster.
