I have an e-bike that weighs 52 lbs without battery can I mount one bike on this rack?

Since there are no trunk mounted bike racks that can carry bikes that weigh over 35 lbs you'd have to look into a hitch mounted e-bike rack like the Thule EasyFold XT part # TH903202 which was designed for the heavier e-bikes as it has a higher weight capacity, uses frame clamps, and also has a ramp built into it for easier loading/unloading.
For your 2017 Volkswagen Golf you'd need a hitch like the # C11422 to use this rack.
