Question:
Hello, Im wondering what the best hitch solution is for a 2017 Golf Alltrack, that would allow the use of a four bike swing away rack. Is it possible to use a Class II hitch with a 350 lb+ tongue weight on a Golf Alltrack or other wagons, such as a Subaru Outback? I would want to be able to mount all four bikes on one rear rack, keeping the roof rack free for other equipment.

There are trailer hitches that will fit the 2017 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen of which the Alltrack is one of the options for that vehicle. The hitches available are all Class I hitches though ( # C11422 and # 24949 ) and as such are limited to 2 bikes maximum. In order to use a swinging bike rack you would need to have a Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver. Even a Class II has a 1-1/4 inch receiver but it can hold more than 2 bikes unlike the Class I.
You mentioned a Subaru Outback. If you were to go with a 2017 Subaru Outback then you could install a Class III hitch, # 75673. Then you could use a swinging bike rack. I recommend the Apex # TH9027XT. It is a highly rated and popular swinging bike rack. I have linked a video review of this rack for you.
