Will the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Hitch Fit 1991 E150 With Dual Fuel Tank

Question:
I have a 1991 Ford E150 with dual fuel tanks, one mid and one rear mount where the spare tire would normally be. I did not see any mention of that in the fitment details, reviews, or other QandA about this hitch. I just want to make sure the hitch will clear the rear tank, and that I would not have to the tank for installation.

I reached out to Draw-Tite and they told me the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75703 was never tested on a 1991 Ford E-150 with the dual fuel tanks. This does not mean it will not fit, it means it has never been tried.
I am attaching a picture of the hitch installed on a van with the spare tire removed as a reference. Looking at this and the pictures you provided, it should fit on your van. The same crossmember that sits just behind your fuel tank attached with two bolts on each end can be seen in the picture, with one of the bolts sticking out under the hitch on the left side. Based on that placement in the picture, you can see that the cross tube of the hitch sits well past that point. This means that the hitch should not interfere with your fuel tank.
I see that you already have a 4-way installed on the back so you have wiring covered. If you need a ball mount, I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit - 3/4" Rise or 2" Drop # 989899. This kit comes with a 1-7/8" and a 2" ball.
I have also attached a picture showing the dimensions of the hitch, as well as an installation video for your reference.
