Question:

I ordered these bolts Y8870068 as replacements for my roof rack ski carrier. And then ordered Replacement Wingnut for Thule Cargo Boxes - TH04877 as replacement wingnuts. Unfortunately, the bolts dont fit the nuts. So I either need new nuts to fit the bolts I have, or new bolts to fit the nuts. For what it is worth, having bolt size information on the bolt AND wingnut pages would help. I looked around for it, and could not find it. May be there, but if it is, I sure could not find it.

The correct wing nuts for the Yakima Replacement Long Mounting Bolts, # Y8870068, are the Yakima Luggage Knobs, # Y8870048. The luggage knobs come in a package of 8 to match the replacement bolt kit.

The specs of the bolts and wing nuts are not listed on the product pages for a couple reasons. First, the specs for the bolts and nuts are not provided by the manufacturer (Thule and Yakima). Second, the reason they are not provided by the manufacturer is because they are made specifically for certain applications and were not designed to be somewhat universal items. The bolts that you purchased are replacement hardware for the Yakima MegaWarrior and LoadWarrior Cargo Baskets, as well as the luggage knobs that I mentioned previously.

I agree, having the exact specs would be helpful if you are trying to rig something together, but the best option is to choose the correct replacement hardware for your specific item. If you would like to send me the name or model number of your ski carrier, I would be happy to see what the correct hardware is for that carrier.
