Help With Installing Pin Locks On TorkLift FastGun Turnbuckles For Camper
Updated 08/16/2021 | Published 08/15/2021 >
Question:
I bought fast gun turnbuckles. Next day I realized that people can steel them, so I ordered the locks. The washer on the locks is so thick, that the pin doesnt reach the female partinch of the lock. Only solution I could come up with was to make to black washer thinner by filing it to make the lock properly work. The difference in distance was not big, but I wonder why the washers are so thick? Are fast gun turn buckles different thickness in the spot where the lock pins go through??? Also I wonder If somebody can remove the safety pin on the tie downs, slide the out and steel the fast guns anyway????? Shouldnt we lock the s on tie downs too??? I am new to campers, but I am quite confused, please help!

The Pin Locks for TorkLift FastGun and Derringer Turnbuckle Handles # TLS9500 do fit snuggly on the TorkLift Turnbuckles, but we have not heard of any fitment issues like you are describing. If this only occurred on one of the handles then perhaps there was some extra heavy paint finish preventing the lock from fitting together properly, thus leading you to file down some of the finish. If this happened on all four handles then feel free to send me some more information and/or photos so that I can get a better idea of what might be causing this issue.
I believe you are wondering if the turnbuckles could be easily stolen when they are on the camper with the locks in place. I don't think this is a high possibility since the turnbuckles will be clamped down very tightly, then with the locks in place the handle would not be able to lift up and the turnbuckles could not be removed. In other words, the side of the turnbuckle that isn't locked will be so tight against the anchor points that it could not be removed without unlatching the turnbuckle. I attached a demonstration video for you.
