Location of Trailer Harness Connector on 1996 Geo Tracker 4X4 Automatic Without Jack Compartment
Updated 05/08/2013 | Published 05/03/2013 >
Question:
I have the right part number but my jack mounts under the passenger seat on my 1996 Geo Tracker 4X4. Where else can I look for the plug? I check my VIN number and title and both say my car is a 1996 Geo Tracker but I have no jack compartment on the drivers side rear cargo area. Please advise! Thank you.

Since your 1996 Geo Tracker 4X4 does not have the jack storage compartment shown in the installation instructions, the trailer harness connector is likely to be located behind one of the tail light assemblies or one of the rear interior trim panels. This Hopkins harness, part # HM41245, fits both 2-door and 4-door versions of the Tracker.
Start on the driver-side and remove the tail light assembly. Please see the included photograph. This is the most-likely location for the connector. If the 6-pin connector is not there, next check behind the passenger-side light assembly, then behind the plastic trim panels in the vehicle rear cargo area, including both side and floor panels.
