Question:

Purchased the Curt 13573 from Amazon based on my vehicle, 2012 BMX x3 35i and after receiving, I received a notice after the fact from Amazon, that it will not fit my vehicle. They then sent another follow up email, ad, that I need the Curt 13316. The primary purpose is for carrying bikes as we have the thule bike rack for up to 4 bikes with 1 1/4 inch mount. Please let us know if the 13573 will work or should we return the 13573 and start over with your 13316? Help please!

I have another option for you, but the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13573 is only confirmed to fit the 2004-2010 BMW X3 and will not fit your vehicle.

You will need to return it and go with the Curt # C13316 you mentioned instead as it is confirmed to fit your 2012 BMW X3 35i. This hitch has a 2" receiver so to use it with your Thule Bike Rack that has a 1-1/4" shank you will need a 2" to 1-1/4" reducer # HT02.

Lastly to make sure there is no interference issues between your bike rack and your X3's bumper you will need to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the receiver. When we installed the # C13316 we found that from the center of the hitch pin hole to the most outward edge of the rear bumper measured right at 4", so your bike rack will need to measure 5" or more to avoid clearance issues.
