Hello, I have a vehicle with a 4 way harness built in and I just bought a trailer with a 7 way hookup. What would I need to do to my vehicle to add a brake controller and utilize all of the 7 way functions including the brakes?

In order to convert the 4-way on a 2017 Ford Escape to a 7-way trailer connector you'll need an adapter. The correct adapter will be based on what type of brake controller you want to use. I recommend wireless, the Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller part # C51180 which requires no splicing and is much easier to install. The only thing you'll need to use this controller is the 4 to 7-Way with 4-Way Adapter part # ETBC7L. You'll run a power wire to the battery, ground one, then plug the two 4-ways in.
