I would be happy to help you find the correct hand winch to replace the damaged electric winch on your 2012 Forest River Premier Pop-Up Camper, but we have not had a chance to do this conversion so you will need to compare the mounting pattern of your existing winch to the hand winch to make sure they will bolt up the same.
More than likely the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch w/ Automatic Brake - TUFFPLATE Finish - 2,500 lbs # DL15721 will work just fine and since it has an automatic brake that applies as soon as you let off the handle, it would be a great option for raising and lowering your pop-up.
I included a diagram showing the dimensions of the mounting holes on the bottom of the # DL15721, if you find that you have a different mounting pattern just let me know and I would happy to go over the correct replacement option.
I also included a video review of the # DL15721 for you to take a look at.
