Trailer Hitch for 2021 VW Tiguan Without Weld Nuts In Frame

Hi, I purchased a 2021 Tiguan SEL Rline and I need to install this hitch. However, when I looked to see where the carriage bolts should be, I found all 4 of them to be missing. I plan to purchase the Curt 13381 hitch and wiring harness 118811. Can you advise which additional parts I would need to secure the hitch to the frame? I am assuming 4 carriage bolts which ones please and some mechanism to secure them to the frame as the holes are present in the frame without any threads. Thanks... this looks like a breeze to install as compared to the eco hitch from you that I put on my Golf Alltrack!

Some of the 2021 VW Tiguan models have a different bumper set-up which means that the factory bolts and weld nuts typically used to install the hitch won't be present. Curt recently realized this problem, and began including installation hardware for vehicles that don't have the OEM bolts and weld nuts. This is explained in the linked installation instructions. We've checked our current stock of the Curt # C13381, and found they all include the alternate hardware, so you'll be good to go by ordering the Curt # C13381 for your 2021 VW Tiguan.
If you'll be using the hitch for towing, you'll need a trailer wiring harness like part # C56403, a ball mount like # AMSC6, a # PC3 hitch pin and # 19260 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch hitch ball.
