Installing Brophy Clamp On Camper Tie-Downs On A RAM 2500

Question:

So it states that these will not work with plastic bed rails. However, in your customer reviews Gerry from 6/28/2020 and Harold 3/3/2020 have installed these on a 2019 RAM 2500 with plastic bedrails as shown in their pictures. Is it a huge risk to attempt this set up?

The reason the manufacturers of the Brophy Clamp On Camper Tie-Downs - Bed Mount - Black Powder Coated Steel - Qty 4 Item # HSAB have the plastic bed rail exemption is because depending on the thickness of the plastic bed rail you might not have enough space to install the inner triangle shaped plate that secures the the tie-downs to the lip properly and the plastic bed rail could cause the tie-downs to slide side to side. If you do use these with the plastic bed rails still on you would be taking on all liability in the event one of the tie-downs malfunctions.
