Truck Camper Tie Downs For 2019 Chevy 3500 Duramax Diesel With 8' Bed

Question:

We just purchased a Lance slide in truck camper. We have a 2019 Chevrolet 3500 Duramax diesel with 8foot bed. The dry weight of the Lance is 3505 lbs. so by the time we load with propane, fresh water, etc. we will be over 4000 lbs. Will the Brophy style bolt on tie downs be sufficient? Thanks much

Hello Keith, thanks for reaching out. The Brophy Slide In Camper Tie-Downs # HSAB will work for your 2019 Chevy 3500 Duramax Diesel and lance camper. The Brophy tie-downs are more of a universal solution and while they do work, they are not the most durable or secure tie downs out there. Frame mounted tie downs like the TorkLift are much more secure since they are bolted directly to the frame. You do need to factor in the price point here because the Brophy are definitely more affordable.

If you want to look into frame mounted tie downs I will need more information on your truck to be sure you get the right thing.

Is your truck a crew cab, regular cab or double cab? I will also need to know if you have running boards or steps on your truck. If so, are they cab length only? Or do they go wheel to wheel? Lastly I will need to know if you have a trailer hitch on the back of your truck. If so, is it factory or aftermarket? Let me know all of that info and I am happy to recommend a frame mounted tie down system for you.

2019 Silverado 3500 one ton long bed crew can with short running boards that do not extend under bed. We just don't know if the hitch is OEM factory. If it's not, will that create fitting problem with the forklift?

@ThanksE So there are different TorkLift rear tie downs depending on what hitch you have. For the OEM hitch, the TorkLift Tie Downs # TL65PR are the correct fit. For an aftermarket hitch, part # TL59VV is what you would need. Usually the aftermarket hitch would have a sticker that shows the brand so if you see a sticker that says Curt or Draw-Tite you can be pretty certain it is aftermarket. If you plan to haul your Lance camper frequently and over long distances, the frame mounted tie downs really are worth investing in. If you will be doing mostly short local trips you could probably get away with the Brophy.
