Question:

Yates Keel Roller for Boat Trailers - Heavy-Duty Rubber - 8 Long - 5/8 Shaft Item # YR8000 I am working on a trailer redesign for our 1962 Alumicraft Queen Merrie. I am looking for an appropriate roller for the center Keel. I am wondering what the diameter of this roller is in the center where the keel would normally sit. The Plan would be to have 3 of these to cover 2/3 of the boat length. Outside of this there will be two bunkers on either side of the trailer to carry most of the weight. Please let me know this diameter and if there is a different Keel roller that you would recommend for our boats design. Thank you

The Yates Rubber # YR8000 keel roller has a 3-3/8 inch diameter at the ends, a 2-1/4 inch diameter at the flat spot in the center and is 7-3/4 inches long. The roller would use a 5/8 inch diameter shaft such as part
# CE10725A and would mount using panel brackets like # CE10303G that would attach to the trailer crossmembers.

It sounds like you have a good idea of the set up you need. The keel rollers help guide the boat onto the trailer so that the hull sits straight on the bunks. The rollers and the bunks will all help support the weight of the boat.
