Question:

I am trying to determine the proper base plates for the various Tow bar brands that will function with a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Oscar Mike Edition. It has a steel bumper and not the standard factory bumper

As long as your 2018 Jeep Wrangler Oscar Mike Edition (Freedom Edition) does not have the American Expedition vehicles bumper the available base plates are the Roadmaster Direct Connect # 1444-3, Roadmaster Crossbar Style # 1444-1, and the Demco Tabless # DM34FR.

If your Jeep JK does have the American Expedition vehicles bumper you will need to go with the # DM34FR.

My recommendation is to go ahead and go with the Demco # DM34FR as it will work with either bumper option, and will allow you to use the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522 without the need for an adapter. The # RM-522 is one of our most popular tow bars due to its 6000lb weight capacity which is perfect for Jeeps like your Jeep JK, and since it has non-binding arms that allow you to quickly and easily unhook your tow bar from your vehicle even on un-even ground.

To complete your flat tow setup you will still need safety cables, tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system. If you do not already have these components I recommend the following:
