Question:
I am currently trying to replace the various pins in my tow bar setup between my RV and toad so I can deter theft. I hope to use the Roadmaster padlocks to replace the 1/4” pins but need help choosing a locking pin for the 1/2” pins that hold the tow bar arms to the crossbar on the front of the toad. The existing pins have clips and are only slightly over 2” long. Locking hitch pins made for the 1 1/4” hitches are nearly 3” long. Will these work or will the added “slop” be a problem in this application? Any other ideas? Thanks.

The Quick-Disconnect Padlocks for Roadmaster Tow Bars # RM-302 will work well in replacing your 1/4" pins to lock your Roadmaster tow bar with quick-disconnects to the base plates on your towed vehicle. In regard to the 1/2" pins that hold the tow bar to the crossbar, you could use etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98879, which is 1/2" in diameter and has 2-1/8" usable length. I checked with Roadmaster and they said that it should be 1/4", not 1/2". If that is the case, then you can use Master Lock Brass Padlock # ML4140LH, which has a 1/4" diameter and 2-1/4" usable length.
I have attached demonstration videos for these locks.
