Question:

Can you help I would like to replace the brakes and drums complete with bears and seal, on my trailer. Wells cargo 2014 model CW1624-102 10,000 lb gross weight. tandem axles by dexter. Electric brakes 6 bolts 5.5 inch center wheels are 15 inch I believe. Thank you

Thanks for that info, and based on that I can narrow down the options for you considerably, but you will need to do a bit of measuring in order to make sure you get the right hub and drum assembly. Based on having Dexter axles and a 10,000 lb GVWR trailer it is likely you have 5,200 lb axles but also possible you have 6,000 lb axles.

This means you will need to know what bearings your current hub has. You will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them.

If you are unable to find them, you need to use digital caliper and measure your spindle to the thousandths of an inch where the bearings and grease seal ride. You can use the photo I've attached to see exactly where you need to measure.

Once you know for sure, here are the likely correct hub and drums, based on the bearings and measurements.

- Inner bearing: 25580 (1.75" inner diameter), outer bearing: 15123 (1.25" inner diameter), & 2.225" grease seal: Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5.2K and 6K E-Z Lube Axles - Pre-Greased # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K or Standard Axle # AKHD-655-6-K

- Inner bearing: 25580 (1.75" inner diameter), outer bearing: LM67048 (1.25" inner diameter), & 2.125" grease seal: Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5,200 lb E-Z Lube Axles # 8-201-5UC3-EZ or Standard Axles # 8-201-5UC3

Each one of the aforementioned hubs has a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern, and comes with the bearings, races, and seals so you won't need those separately. But if you go with one of the Dexter Hub and Drum assemblies (the second options), which are not pre-greased you will also need the Prime Guard Wheel Bearing Hi-Temp Red Grease # L11380 and Bearing Packer # ALL647646.

Then for electric brakes, so long as your axle has a standard 5-bolt mounting flange, the correct fit is the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-6 which are manual adjust brakes or the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting # # AKEBRK-7-SA. The brakes will also require Mounting Bolts # BRKH12.
