Do you have to use a thread pin with the yakima long arm extender or would a regular pin work fine? Pin lock

The Yakima LongArm Truck Bed Load Extender - 2" Hitches - Aluminum - 300 lbs # Y01149 comes with a threaded shank for a threaded pin which is also included. It will not work with a regular hitch pin. If you want a locking pin, then you will need the # Y07235 for this application.

If you want the ability to use the standard hitch pin or standard hitch pin lock, you may want to consider an alternative like the Erickson Big Bed Junior Load Extender for Truck Bed or Roof - 2" Hitches - 350 lbs # EM07605.
