It's going to allow you to carry extended loads in your pickup bed such as kayaks, canoes, ladders, lumber, or any other extended item. It's going to work out great for all trucks, but it's especially handy with short bed trucks. The end of the crossbar features four tie-down locations to help you secure your gear, one of which is Yakima's signature bottle opener. The LongArm includes a red flag to attach to your load to help it remain visible. The LongArm has several different adjustable positions.
With it all the way down, it's designed to work in conjunction with your tailgate as a bed extender. The next two positions are designed to work as an over the bed extension with a tonneau cover or the Yakima BedRock. The Yakima BedRock is a truck bed cross rail system sold separately for midsize and full size trucks. The final position is used as an over the cab extender. To use it in this configuration, you'll need to pick up the LongArm extension with part number Y01150. In the bed extender position, the LongArm gives you an additional four feet.
The crossbar gives you 60" of cargo space. The whole thing is made out of an aluminum construction with a black powder coat finish so it's going to be resistant to rust and corrosion. As the bed extender, it's rated up to 300 pounds. In the vertical position, it has 165 pound weight capacity. The LongArm is going to install on your 2" by 2" trailer hitch receiver.
An anti-rattleble 00:01:24 is included and what that's going to do is it's going to help reduce all the play and rattle within our receiver and our shank to make a nice solid ride. Now, you've had a good look at the Yakima LongArm Bed Extender, part number Y01149.
