Installing An Aftermarket Brake Controller On A 2020 Chevrolet Silverado Factory Brake Controller

Question:

Hello, I have a 2020 Silverado 2500HD and it came with factory brake controller. The problem is that it sucks.... I would like to use a universal brake controller but since the truck has the factory controller what would I need to do to install an aftermarket one? Thanks for your help with this,

To install an after market brake controller on you 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 you would need to go with the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional Item # RED44FR and the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers # 3064-P. You need to make sure to take your vehicle to a dealership and have them flash the computer to turn your factory brake controller off so it does not throw a code. If you do not have the factory brake controller turned off, when you install the aftermarket controller the computer will still be looking for the factory controller.
