Recommended Cargo Box for 2019 Toyota RAV4 That Doesnt Obstruct Roof Antenna
Updated 08/20/2020 | Published 08/18/2020 >
Question:
I am about to order this cargo box but really want to be sure it fits my 2019 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid. I want to make sure that the Thule will fit and will not interfere with the rear hatch. Also, how close can it be to the radio antenna without impacting its ability to receive stations?

In order to use the Thule Motion XT # TH629706 on your 2019 Toyota RAV4 you're going to need 47-1/2" from the center of your front crossbar to the crease where the roof and the hatch meet. However, it's going to be substantially less than that when it comes to the antenna, so using a long box like this likely isn't going to be the best solution because you're likely going to see some reception issues if it's covered.
I recommend considering the Trunx Rooftop Cargo Box # TRX34FR, since it's 21" shorter and actually provides you with a 2 cu/ft more storage space than the # TH629706. This box requires bar spacing between 22" and 31", but it provides you with a roof box option that won't impede your rear hatch and should not obstruct your radio antenna. The Trunx extends 35" back from the center of the front crossbar, so you can use that distance to determine where it's going to sit in relation to those two spots.
I've linked a photo that shows how to measure these distances, as well as a review video of the Trunx box.
