Powered Bulldog Jack Recommendation for a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 to Help Install Spring Bars of WD

Updated 10/15/2012 | Published 10/13/2012

Question:

I have a 28foot camper, approx. 6500 lbs. dry weight. I pull it with a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4. I use weight distribution bars, and what I want to know is will the Bulldogs 4000 lb. unit lift the camper and truck so I can hook up the weight distribution bars?? Thank you for any help,

Expert Reply:

The Bulldog Powered-Drive Trailer Jack # BD500200 would do well as a powered jack for your 6500 lb trailer. It would also work to jack up your trailer to install the weight distribution system you have.

This jack can lift trailers with up to 4,000 lbs of tongue weight. Typically the tongue weight of a trailer is 10-15% of the total weight of the trailer. So when your trailer is empty you would have a tongue weight of 650-975 lbs which the # BD500185 would make easy work of.
