The base plate you need for your 2012 Mini Cooper Countryman is the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms Item # BX1308
To help complete your flat tow set up I recommend the following items:
Blue Ox Alpha 2 Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 6,500 lbs Item # BX7380. This tow bar is more than enough to tow you Mini Cooper with a curb weight max of 3208 lbs. It is a non binding tow bar which means after the arms lock out when towing, when wanting to disconnect the tow bar from the vehicle you simply push the lever and the arms unlock. Each arm has a boot that covers the retracting bar which protects it from damage, dirt and debris.
Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional Item # BLU37TR. A braking system is required in any vehicle being flat towed behind another vehicle. This braking system is easy to set up when your ready to tow and easy to remove when you finished towing. It sits in the drivers floor board and has a bar and clamp that attaches to the brake pedal. It does require a cable be ran to the front of the vehicle for the brake away switch. It is a proportional system which means it will match the braking pressure applied in the motor home.
Blue Ox 7' Safety Cables - 7,500 lbs - Qty 2 Item # BX88196. The safety cables are a coiled cable to help keep the cables from dragging the ground getting damaged. Keep in mind where the cables connect to the hitch on the motor home they should be crisscrossed and attached on the opposite side coming from the vehicle.
Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit for Variable Voltage Incandescent Tail Lights
Item # RM26FR. Since you mini cooper needs light functions from the motor home, as any trailer or vehicle does, this diode kit allows your factory taillights to receive light functions from your motor home so you are legal and safe. It is designed for variable voltage wiring which means a single wire that has multiple functions but each function uses a different amount of voltage. For instance if you have an LED light that has multiple functions and one wire running to that light for all the functions and one of those functions uses 6 volts and the other only uses three volts to operate you need a diode that is able to recognize that so the light function properly. Once this kit is installed there is nothing further that has to be done other than plugging your umbilical from the front of the vehicle to the RV. Once installed it is unnoticeable and does not effect the use of the taillights when the vehicle is not be towed.
