Can 7" Hitch Extender Be Used for Towing to Clear Tailgate

Question:

I have a 3/4 ton Silverado 2007. Have hauled several thousand pound trailers. I have purchased a tear trailer with an empty weight of 1500 pounds. Close coupled hitch and I cannot let my tailgate down all the way. Could a 7inch extender help with this w/o hurting towing weight? Thanks.

The Hitch Extender For 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver 7" part # HE06 will reduce the weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50% or 3,500 lbs, whichever is lower. That said, it sounds like the tow vehicle will be well beyond the needs for the small trailer so you should be just fine.
