Is a Hitch Extender Safe to Tow a Camper With

Question:
I have a 2005 Dodge ram 2500 and pulling a 4000 pound camp trailer but my tailgate needs to be down and I dont have the room. I have a 5000 pound 12inch extension that I can use. Is it safe to do so?

It is safe to tow with a hitch extender like the Curt # C45796, but it is important to note that using any type of adapter, including an extender, reduces the weight capacity of your hitch by 50 percent.
