Is it Okay for the Bumper to Touch the Curt Hitch part # C13043

Question:

i have the same common problem that the curt hitch doesnt clear the bumper lip on the bottom section of my 2015 lexus gx I think adding a couple of washer between the hitch receiver and the frame will solve the issue. Is this is a safety concern since the hitch will not sit flush with the frame after ing a couple of washers? do i need to purchase a longer bolt? I am very confused.

You should only use the provided hardware to secure your hitch. Using any additional spacers or washers will void the warranty from the manufacturer.

If it is an issue where the bumper cover is resting on the hitch and you are able to install it and properly torque the hardware this is not an issue and is very common on a lot of the hitches that I have installed. This eliminates the need for you to cut the bumper for clearance since it isn't really an issue.

If you do not like it you can certainly cut the bumper around the area in which it makes contact with the hitch so it is not an issue. This will not negatively effect the hitch's performance.
