How Does The Inno Quick Base System Work With A Roof Rack And Trailer Hitch Receiver

Updated 08/08/2025 | Published 08/27/2024

Question:

Hi, It looks like one or both of the Inno cargo carriers may also be used as a rooftop carrier. What parts are needed to make that work? Also, if it can be done, are there specific crossbar specs that apply? I’m referring to the two products: IN94MR and IN54MR.

Hi Mary,

There's two versions of the Inno Quick Base; one that can come with crossbar mounting feet to mount on a roof rack or truck bed rack with part # IN82RR, and another version with part numbers # IN54MR and # IN94MR that comes with a shank to mount into the trailer hitch of a vehicle. The cargo boxes can be swapped back and forth between the bases but you would have to purchase two separate bases.

You could purchase the hitch mounted version # IN92RR and then the roof top version # IN42RR or # IN62RR and then go with either the 6 cu/ft # IN72RR or 11 cu/ft # IN32RR.

The roof rack mounts are compatible square crossbars and ones with accessory slots in the top of the crossbar for the mounts to slide into.

Kevin, For the roof mounted Quick Base it says that the roof racks spread cannot be more than 33-3/16". Is that spread dimension center to center, out to out or inside to inside of the roof rack cross bars? The video says 31-1/2" apart. Again, is that inside to inside or center to center or out to out. Thank you

@Boyd The max 33-3/16" crossbar spread for the Inno Quick Base Roof Rack Platform # IN42RR is from one point on the front crossbar to that same point on the rear crossbar. It's typically easier to measure front edge to front edge.
