Question:

Is there a brake only wire at the rear hitch? That won’t get power with turn signals? I’m trying to wire up a brake light only.

The brake light and turn signal circuits on trailer connectors like the Pollack # PK11893 are run off of the same wire, and it sounds like you might be trying to wire up a 3rd brake light for your 2007 Chevy 1500. You're not going to be able to use the signal from the 7 way connector, but we can help you find the wiring that you're needing in order to accomplish this.

In order to do that, the best way is to tap into the Center High Mount Stop Light (CHMSL) circuit which should be present in the cab of the truck. You'll want to look in the bundle of wires where the factory brake controller wires are secured, located under the dash of the truck. I've seen some information that says it is an orange wire on certain model years but wasn't able to confirm this on the 2007. You'll want to run the wire from the truck cap into the cab and connect it to this wire, which will allow the brake light on your cap to engage with the brakes.

When installing the 3rd brake light on a truck cap we do recommend using the Pacer Performance 3rd Brake Light Module # PP20-702 to make sure that the turn signals don't override the brake light signal, which can be common on these installations.
