Question:
I have a 2018 Wildwood FSX it is pre-wired for a furrion camera what i need to know is if the power wire in the installed mounting box will power any other name brand cameras. the reason why I ask is that I have a GPS unit mfg by Garmin and it will accept a wireless camera called BC 30 Wireless Back up Camera Plus the Furrion radio unit was a boat anchor. Was absolutely horrible in every way shape and form. Therefore I will not use a Furrion. So will this power plug for the furrion power this BC 30 wireless? Next when I turn on my GPS under settings it shows nothing regarding a camera. So is this because there is no signal coming from a camera or is there something I need to do to the GPS for the BC 30 camera to work. Thanks

The best option for a backup camera on the 2018 Wildwood FSX is to use the pre-wired mount to install the shark fin shaped Furrion Cameras like part # FOS05TASF with a 5" screen. I did research on the Garmin BC30 camera that you mentioned and it is designed for a much shorter 45 foot range compared to the Furrion cameras 495 foot range. I do not believe the 45 foot range would be enough for the RV.
I understand your hesitation because of your experience with the Furrion stereo however the hook up on the Wildwood is designed for the Furrion camera hookup and we haven't heard of many issues from our customers regarding the quality with the cameras in particular. The Garmin BC30 also requires a video cable that runs to a transmitter. The transmitter would also need to be mounted so while possible it does require more wiring then just hooking up the black power wire. The other issue would be the mounting hole pattern would not be the same for the Garmin camera since the Garmin is smaller. The installation of the Furrion with a pre-wired setup is simple.
The Furrion camera can also come with a 4.3" screen part # FOS43TASF.
