Hi. I need a recommendation on a 5th wheel hitch. We have a 2024 Ram 2500 6ft bed and 2018 Crossroads Volante 290RL. 10,415 GVWR and 1,618 hitch weight. This is our first 5th wheel so something that prioritizes easy hookup and towing as well as works well with our shorter bed would be optimal. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Jamie, thanks for reaching out. Since your 2024 Ram 2500 is a short bed, I do recommend that you go with a sliding 5th wheel hitch. The slider is to help with clearance on tight turns or when backing up into a tight parkign spot.
If your Ram truck has the OEM puck system in the bed, I recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider for Ram Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3670. The Companion hitch is a super solid hitch made here is the USA. The slider is smooth and easy to operate. The same goes for the jaw mechanism. It is very well-made and makes hooking up and unhooking very simple. The hitch itself is rated for 20,000 lbs so more than enough for your Crossroads 5th wheel.
If your truck does not have the OEM puck system, you will need to install a rail kit. For that, use the # BWRVK2602 rail kit along with the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3270.
I also recommend you use the Curt Gooseneck Wiring Harness # C56070 to add a 7-way to the bed of your truck if you don't have one in there already. Feel free to reach out anytime if you have any other questions.
