Does the Weight of a Weight Distribution Hitch Get Added To Tongue Weight On a 2019 Ford Ranger
Published 04/04/2020 >
Question:
Hello, when determining the size of a weight distribution hitch, do I include the actual weight of the weight distribution hitch in the tongue weight? Some WD hitches weight over 100lbs. Or do I ONLY include the trailer tongue weight and any cargo in my truck aft of the rear axel?

Expert Reply:
The weight of a weight distribution system does not get factored into the tongue weight as it becomes part of the frame. If you are looking for a weight distribution system, I recommend the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # BLU87FR. This is made for trailers with a tongue weight between 800 and 1,000 lbs. It offers better sway control than pretty much any other WD hitch on the market.
