Question:

Can you use this hitch with a four bike bike rack without using any additional straps? Apparently you have to with the Kurt brand but not the Draw-tite.

You do not have to use a stabilizer strap with the Draw Tite hitch part # e98902 that you referenced. At one point the lower capacity Curt hitches did require the strap but here recently they decided that wasn't needed any longer. So if you wanted to use this hitch with a 4 bike rack you could easily without needing adding anything else for support.

This is a hanging bike rack that is very versatile and easy to use. I attached a review video for it on a similar CX-5 as yours for you to check out as well.

If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
