How much clearance is there between the bottom bars and the the top bars? I want to carry four bikes on the bottom bars and paddle boards on top. Is there enough clearance to mount the bikes on the bottom?

The Malone MicroSport LowBed 2 # MPG464-LBT has 36" between the top and bottom crossbars. This trailer is the perfect solution for carrying kayaks, paddleboards, bikes, cargo carriers and any other outdoor gear that can be mounted on roof rack style crossbars, all on one trailer. This trailer comes equipped with anchor points on both sets of bars to allow you to secure your gear.
With that being said, you may encounter 2 issues that could be prohibitive in carrying your bikes on the bottom bars and kayaks on the top bars. First, the upper crossbars have a 100-lbs capacity and may not be able to hold heavy paddleboards (500-lbs on the bottom crossbars) and; second, the bottom crossbars have a minimum spread of 44" wide, which will be too wide for most bike carriers.
With that being said, I have the perfect solution that would allow you to carry at least some of the bikes on the bottom crossbars. The Malone Pilot TC ST Bike Rack # MPG2100 is designed with the MicroSport trailer in mind and would be the perfect bike carrier for this trailer since it will fit on the spread of both the bottom and the top crossbars on your MicroSport trailer. This bike rack will provide you with a durable, quality crossbar mounted bike carrier at a good price.
I believe you can make this work by storing 2 of the bikes on the bottom bars with paddleboards on one side and then carrying the other 2 bikes on the top crossbars with any other gear that you might have. If you need any ratchet straps for this setup, you can use the Ratchet Tie Down Straps # 288-05852, which have a push button release and 800-lbs capacity. These straps come with a handy carrying case, as well, which will allow you to keep them stored when not in use.
