Id like to know if the trailer hitches you carry for a 2017 Cayenne will operate the electric trailer brakes and communicate with the ECU for transmission controls. going with the SH57FRT Thanks

I'll start off by saying that no trailer hitch will allow you to control the brakes on a trailer; in order to operate the brakes on a trailer you need a brake controller and 7 way connector installed on your Porsche Cayenne. None of these components will communicate with the vehicle's internal computers in order to help the transmission, though.

Since you've already chosen the Stealth Hitch # SH57FRT, you're well on your way to getting on the road, but there are a few other components you'll need to tow a trailer with brakes. Since the Stealth hitch comes with a 7 way wiring harness included, so you're well on the way to having what you need.

Once you've installed the 7 way connector, the easiest brake controller to use and install is the Curt Echo Mobile # C51180. The Echo plugs in directly to your 7 way connection and is controlled via your smartphone, which means you don't have to worry about mounting a brake controller inside your vehicle. Pairing the Echo and the Stealth hitch will provide you with everything you need to tow a trailer with brakes.
