Supplemental Braking System for Jayco Seneca Towing 2019 GMC 1500 That Installs Out of the Way

Updated 12/16/2019 | Published 12/15/2019

Question:

I have an existing Readybrute Elite towbar with blue ox clevis that I used to tow my Jeep JLU with. I recently purchased a 2019 GMC 1500 Denali and would like to use the same towbar but want to use a different supplemental brake. I am looking for the cleanest setup possible and was wondering what you might suggest. I will be towng it behind a 2018 Jayco Seneca and I’d really like to be able to reuse the towbar with any new setup.

I don't know much about the Readybrute Elite towbar since it's not a product that we offer, but from what I was able to find it looks like they're compatible with a number of different manufacturer's base plates. If you do need base plates to connect it to, I recommend using the Blue Ox # BLU54VR since they will be compatible with your Blue Ox clevises.

When it comes to supplemental braking that has the cleanest looking installation that you'll barely notice once it's on your vehicle, I recommend going with the Demco SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 (for motor homes with hydraulic brakes) or the Air Force One # SM99243 (for motor homes with air brakes). Both of these systems offer proportional braking that never has to be removed from the vehicle and are installed out of the way, so that you can install it and not have to worry about setup each time you want to tow your 2019 GMC Sierra 1500.
