Best Aftermarket Alternative to Factory Hitch on 2020 Chevrolet Equinox

Question:
I bought my 2020 Chevrolet Equinox without the tow package and I really don't want to pay the outrageous price the dealer wants not only for the hitch but labor as well. I'm leaning toward one of your hitches but I see they sit lower than the factory hitch. Is that a problem? If I get one from you, could I install it myself? Which one should I get?

I don't blame you for wanting to be smart with your money. While the aftermarket hitches for your 2020 Chevy Equinox do sit below the bumper as opposed to protruding through a few inches higher on the bumper, there are plenty of hitch mounted accessories that can provide enough of a rise to ensure it isn't a problem. Aftermarket hitches go toe to toe with factory hitches in terms of quality, just at a much more economical price point.
The best hitch for your 2020 Equinox is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76419. This hitch is super easy to install, so if you can feed some hardware through the frame, lift the hitch into position and turn a wrench, you can certainly install this yourself. Another nice thing about this hitch is that the cross tube is completely hidden, with the only visible portion being the hitch receiver. See attached photo.
If you're planning on using the hitch to haul your bikes, the Saris Freedom # SA4412B is an excellent option because it has a shank with a built-in 8 inch rise, to make sure there's a good distance between your rack/bikes and the ground.
I included videos for you to check out on both the hitch and bike rack mentioned above.
