How long will the battery last and how often do need to charge the battery?

The battery that comes with the Bright Way Trailer Breakaway Kit with Switch, 12V, 5-Amp-Hour Battery, and Charger # 3802339 is a 12 volt sealed lead-acid battery and these batteries have a life cycle that can vary quite a bit, but typically it has quite a long life of 3-5 years, which is what you should expect with this kit.
The battery, for which the replacement is part # 3801250 will constantly be charged when you install it on the trailer. This kit has a charger and connects to your 12 volt hot lead which is what will charge the battery when you are towing.
