Question:

I have a 2019 RAM 2500 short bed with Ramboxes and the tow prep package. Can I use a B&W Companion?

The B&W Companion IS compatible, but you'll need to use a Sidewinder replacement pin box because the Rambox option narrows the inside width of the truck bed. If you try to fifth wheel tow as it sits, the corners of the pin box will collide with the inside edges of the bed sides. The Sidewinder will move the pivot point rearward by 22 inches so that nothing will hit the bed sides. The Sidewinder is pin box specific, so you'll need to identify which pin box you have by examining it for stickers or an ID plate that lists the pin box manufacturer and model number. If you take a look at the linked help article, you can learn more about how the Sidewinder works as well as see a listing of which Sidewinders work with which pin boxes.

Ordinarily we recommend using a sliding fifth wheel hitch in a short bed truck, but the Sidewinder will provide enough clearance so you won't have any issues. You'll want to use the stationary Companion model, part # BWRVK3600.
