Question:

Im wanting to use a B and W companion fifth wheel in a short bed Dodge p/u with a turning point hitch on a Rockwood fifth wheel trailer. Will they work together properly/ Thx,

If the B and W Companion hitch is the # BWRVK3600 which fits the OEM rail kit of a Ram truck it can be used with a pivoting pin box like the Turning Point but if the hitch attaches to a gooseneck hitch via a center post then it can not be used with it unless you lock out the Turning Point.

The pivoting pin boxes stress the hitches differently so the hitch will need to connect in four places to the truck bed and not just with the center post.

I have a B&W companion hitch with center post in a 2024 Chevy 2500 HD 6’10” bed. The wedge that came with the Curt turning point pin box will not stay in place. The bolts loosen enough to allow the wedge to slide rearward about 1/2”. I’ve tightened to 130 ft lbs using locktight and it still moved. This allows the pin box to angle a few degrees in both directions. Do I need the turning point to prevent the front of the 5th wheel from colliding with the back of my truck or should I lock out the turning point - put the bolts back in?

@BradW You need to lock out your Turning Point and use it like a standard pin box without the wedge since your Companion hitch attaches to your truck via the gooseneck hitch center post. If it hasn't damaged the hitch already it will happen at some point due to the additional torque the pivoting pin boxes put on the gooseneck attachment point.
