How Far Will Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Extend Past Grille on 2018 Ford Flex

Question:

Installation of a Blue Ox BX2645 towing baseplate. How far should the components extend out in front of the grill? Instructions dont seem to address that for positioning.

I reached out to my contact at Blue Ox regarding the Base Plate Kit # BX2645 and he said on your 2018 Ford Flex the base outlets should extend past the grille about 1 to 2 inches. Then with the bracket arms plugged in you are looking at an extension of around 5 inches.

You will need a base plate kit, a tow bar, safety cables, a lighting solution, and a braking system. My specific recommendations for your Ford Flex are the Roadmaster Base Plate Kit # RM-524435-4, the Sterling Tow Bar # RM-576 (safety cables included), the Diode Kit # RM-15267 to power the signal lights, and the Brake Buddy # HM39524.

@Scott From what I could find this vehicle can be safely flat towed - however you will still want to verify this information and check for any restrictions/guidelines that are listed in your copy of the owner's manual.
