Looking for a tow hitch that's going to work for transporting bikes for my wife and me. I got a 2019 BMW X5

The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76288 is a solid choice for all X5 models excluding M Model X5s. With solid steel construction and attractive gloss-black finish, this hitch will more than do the job for carrying your two bikes.
With regard to bike racks, I recommend the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Platform Rack # KU74FR as a fantastic choice should you be looking at either acquiring or upgrading. This rack is very popular because it's platform-style rack that has lower, step-through frame that makes loading bikes easier compared to hanging racks. In addition the rack is able to tilt away allowing you access to your hatch, even with bikes loaded as pictured. Finally the ratcheting hooks and ratcheting straps secure your bike to your rack without frame access, even with fat bike tires up to a 3" tire width.
