Troubleshooting Dim LED on Knob of Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller
Updated 08/28/2019 | Published 08/24/2019 >
Question:
I have just installed my Tow Pro Elite into my 2012 Toyota Landcruiser Sahara. Following installation and connecting the trailer, the lights on the trailer all function correctly, the camera on the rear of my trailer functions correctly, the brakes function correctly but the indication light on the controller knob is so dim that it is difficult to see. I tested all of the point prior to connection and tested each terminal prior to plugging in the harness to the controller. Every point tested correctly. My question is what inputs activate the indication lights on the Tow Pro Elite V3 brake controller? I installed the Tow Pro because the indication lights on the Tekonsha P3 brake controller stopped functioning completely when the trailer was connected. Kind regards,

I reached out to my contact at Redarc regarding the dim LED you're getting on the knob of the Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR.
He said that inside the knob/remote there is a 90 degree light pipe which is what brings the light up and out through the button. If this is no longer in the correct position then it can definitely cause the light to be extremely dim. If you look at the top of the button there is a small clear piece of plastic protruding from a small hole - this is the light pipe itself. Make sure it's there and not pushed back into the hole, bringing back out as needed.
My contact said if you continue to have issues this is certainly something that would be covered under warranty. If this is the case just give them or us (if you purchased it from us) a call and they will gladly send out a replacement control knob.
