The deal with hitch extenders is that they cut the capacity of the hitch they are installed in by 50 percent due to the added length and leverage.
If your tow vehicle has twice the towing capacity as what your trailer will weigh this adapter part # C45791 would work well. This adapter by itself has a capacity of 3,500 lbs so the adapter would easily work on a 2,500-3,000 lb trailer.
