What is the weight of this item? Also is there any research that’s been done on the affects on aerodynamics/efficiency adding this product? Thanks.

The weight of the EcoHitch part # EH84GR which fits your 2018 Tesla Model 3 is 45 lbs. When not in use you could use the access hole cover part # 306-XA2002 which would totally cover up the hole and would give you same aerodynamics as before the hitch was installed.

I have a 2020 Model 3 on and have ordered the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" 306-X7373. Do I need to order the 306-XA2002 as well to cover the hitch hole when receiver? Saw a reference that some may already a removable cover in this location. Would it be returnable if not needed.

You would need to check to see if your 2020 Tesla Model 3 has a removable access panel where the hitch would come out. If you do not have this panel then you will want to pick up the panel cover.
