Difference Between Roadmaster RM-154 and RM-15267

1. I am adding a receiver to my 2006 Honda CRV. This way I can tow a small trailer or attach my bike carrier. I need to add a wiring harness for trailer lights. 2. I am going to tow this vehicle behind my motorhome, I need to add a wiring kit RM-15267 or RM154. I havent figured out why I would use one over the other. It looks like RM-154 is half the price, and that I am paying $60 or so for the 7 into 6 coiled wire and the 6 pin connector. 3. I am required by law to have a braking system. It will need to be wired. OK, now the questions 1. Why would I use RM-154 over RM-15267 or the other way around? 2. Do I need a separate wiring harness for each system? 3. What is the best, and simplest way to wire all this loaded question?

I am happy to help you get all of the wiring that you need. The trailer light wiring for the 2006 Honda CR-V is T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118336. This will power the lights on your trailer. You will need separate wiring for all that you have mentioned.
If you plan on flat towing the Honda CR-V, you will need tow bar wiring. If you have a 4-way on your motor home you can use Roadmaster part # RM-154 because it will splice into the back of the towed vehicle's tail lights and extends to the front of the towed vehicle. The smaller piece of wiring with the male pins connect the longer 4-pole wire to the motor home's 4-pole connector. If you do have a 7-way on the back of the motor home and want to use RM-154 you can but you would need a coiled adapter to adapt the 7-way to the 4-way like part # HM47065.
Most people go with the Roadmaster part # RM-15267 because they have a 7-way on their motor home so the coiled adapter is already included so it's more convenient. It is also a cleaner install because it comes with the 6-wire plug that mounts to the front of the vehicle. Either one will splice into the Honda CR-V's wiring so it really just depends on what connector is on your motor home as to which one to use. The easiest way to go is Heavy Duty Magnetic Tow Lights part # TL21RK which plugs into your motor home's connector and attaches to the top of the Honda CR-V so you will not need to splice into the Honda's wiring at all. However, a lot of people do not like the magnetic lights because they can sometimes damage the paint.
As far as a braking system is concerned, most of them do require wiring but how much wiring depends on the braking system. A recurring set-up portable braking system normally requires less wiring because it is not a permanent install in the vehicle. The Blue Ox Patriot part # BLU37TR plugs into the 12V accessory outlet so it does not require as much wiring as the other systems.
