Question:

I would like to replace the worn-out Atwood landing gear set on my 1997 Scamp fifth wheel trailer with the Lippert Electric Landing Gear Set #LC333964. The two welded stops on the Lippert seem to have the right spacing, though the Atwood has a third welded stop that contacts the top edge of the upper bracket. This third stop does seem to me to be necessary. My main concern is whether the shaft extending from the gear reduction box to the manual crank handle is positioned the same on the Lippert and Atwood. A tube mounted on the Scamp trailer guides the crank handle to the shaft extending from the gear reduction box. So its important that the shaft position is the same on the Lippert and Atwood.

The Lippert Electric Landing Gear Set # LC333964 will work fine as a replacement for your worn out Atwood setup. The gearbox in this kit as well as the stand-alone replacements like # LC276602 are standardized. This gearbox part actually works with most brands of landing gear, including Atwood, Lippert, and Stromberg-Carlson. Just to make absolutely certain I did review your inquiry with Lippert and they said you're good to go with # LC333964.
